Parlour Place

857 Bergen Ave

A 52-unit adapted reuse complex date to the 1800s, a historic renovation and expansion project that bridges the neighborhoods of Journal and McGinley Square. Artfully blending Gilded age details and repurposed history alongside modern amenities. Reverse glass paintings from a century-old ice cream parlor have been reimagined in monumental wood panels, carrying forward the building’s story with quiet grandeur. Plush textures, sculptural furnishings, and botanical motifs layer warmth and intimacy into the space, balancing heritage with contemporary ease.

The design draws inspiration from Jean Royère’s luxurious whimsy, Maison Jansen’s neoclassical meets mid-century sensibility, and Gio Ponti’s geometric elegance, filtered through a lens of modernist minimalism and the convivial atmosphere of a classic club lounge.
